Lavender Legal Center | Seeking Office Manager
Description: Lavender Legal Center seeks an Office Manager in Iowa. The Office Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day administrative functions of the organization, including managing staff, maintaining office facilities, handling finances, ensuring compliance with legal and administrative procedures, and providing support to the legal team, all while aligning with the mission and goals of Lavender Legal Center. This is a remote position with regular in-person meetings with the Executive Director and Board Treasurer.

Primary Responsibilities:

Managing office operations including supplies, equipment, and maintenance.

Overseeing front desk operations, answering phone calls, and directing inquiries.

Maintaining filing systems, both physical and electronic

Managing technology needs and implementing/maintaining software

Maintaining accurate financial records, including tracking expenses and revenue.

Handling budgeting, billing, and donation collection.

Preparing budget reports and monitoring compliance.

Managing donor databases and coordinating fundraising activities

Ensuring adherence to all legal and regulatory requirements

Generating reports on office operations and key metrics
Qualifications: Lavender staff provide a welcoming, supportive, and inclusive environment for the LGBTQ community. They aim to promote the dignity, equality, and safety of LGBTQ people. An applicant should have excellent written and oral communication skills. Lavender staff must have strong interpersonal skills. They are required to maintain confidential and sensitive information and should have exceptional organizational and time management skills. They should possess high attention to detail. They provide assistance with donor management record keeping and fundraising, including events. The Office Manager provides coordination of human resource paperwork for the organization including new employee office set-ups, background checks and on-boarding. The Office Manager must have computer and general software literacy, with proficiency (or ability to quickly learn) in cloud computing, productivity and collaboration tools, software and products; accounting software; and donor management software. They should have experience in office management, and an understanding of non-profit operations and fundraising practices. The best law office managers are especially skilled at quickly evaluating the urgency of problems and then providing solutions. Education & Experience: Applicants with a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience are preferred. A public interest background and/or prior experience working or otherwise identifying with the LGBTQ community is preferred. Salary & Benefits: This position is part-time, starting at an average of 5 hours per week, with the opportunity to expand to full-time (35 hours per week) as the organization grows. Lavender uses an egalitarian pay scale. Full-time staff have an annual salary of $50,000, so this part-time position will begin at the prorated amount of $27.47/hour. Excellent fringe benefits are available, including liberal PTO including paid time off for all major holidays, employer SIMPLE IRA matching, four-day work week option, twelve weeks of paid parental leave, reimbursement for phone costs, and a flexible work schedule with majority remote work. Again, benefits are prorated until the position moves to full-time.
